Leadership
The biggest shortfall in our County Commissioners’ office is leadership. Presently, conservatives are outnumbered and there’s a lack of effort on our side to “push back” on fiscally irresponsible spending and “feel good” legislation.
The Democrats are firmly in control of our County and it shows. In fact, just last month our Commissioners voted 5-0 to allow a Chicago company to come in and build a 2,800 acre solar farm just east of Lincoln.
Being the lone voice for conservative values in our Commissioners Board will be difficult. But as a strong leader, we will be able to raise awareness among the citizens through opposition to unnecessary spending. We need elected officials who will take care of our county’s “needs” and their “wants.”
Unchallenged support of the liberal agenda is failing Lancaster County and hurting families by increasing taxes and energy costs.

Taxes
Politicians love to talk about cutting taxes, and my opponents are promising you they’ll do it. It’s easy to unify support by saying you’ll cut property taxes. But the reality is our County Board’s spending is out of control and the lure of a tax cut has become nothing more than an empty promise.
Our current representative has been in office for 20 years and in that time, have your taxes been cut? I know that mine sure haven’t, even though that’s what I’ve been promised time and again. If elected, will I cut your property taxes? No. As the lone voice for tax cuts on the Board, I won’t have the ability. BUT, I will oppose tax increases and irresponsible spending.
Most of all, I will work tirelessly to recruit like-minded candidates that will challenge Board members that refuse to cut wasteful spending and oppose lowering our taxes.
Unfortunately, lower property taxes is not one candidate, or one vote from reality. But the first step in making it a reality is getting someone on the Board who will oppose bad policy.

Infrastructure
We need to supply our County Engineer with the funds needed to fix our roads and bridges.
How many years was Roca Road closed?
And Hallam Road? What about Southwest 29th Street and Panama Road?
Imagine having to go 2, 3, 4 miles out of your way every day, just to go to work or take the kids to soccer. This isn’t just an inconvenience or access issue, it’s also a safety issue. What if you had a house fire? Or needed an ambulance?
These are just two instances where an extra five or 10 minutes can literally be the difference between life and death. We deserve better. We need someone who listens to what our communities need, then supports it and advocates for it.

County Sheriff
Did you know our Sheriff’s Deputies earn LESS than our correctional officers? I was surprised to learn that, too.
How can we expect to keep and grow the Sheriff’s department with low wages and aging equipment?
Great leadership in the Sheriff’s Department isn’t enough – we need to give them the support and financing needed to keep our County safe.
